Arc de Triomphe - Paris
Our first full day in Paris and it rained--poured--all day. On the plane over we had seen Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris", one of my favorite movies. There's a scene when they're waking in the street and it starts to rain. Owen Wilson's character, trying to convince his friends not to retreat to a taxi, says "Paris is most beautiful in the rain!"
Well, I beg to differ. But...Paris in the rain when you're snug in a dry cafe on the Champs-Élysées drinking coffee and painting? It's still pretty wonderful. I love this view of the Arc de Triomphe through the trees.
Afterwards, we went to the Musée Jaquesmart-André, which is an exquisite mansion filled with objects d'art and paintings from a wealthy Parisian couple who spent their life appreciating and accumulating treasures. Their paintings include masterworks by Rembrandt, Botticelli, Boucher, and Fragonard. Fabulous.
