Marie Selby Gardens - Sarasota

Selby Concert - Sarasota

Selby Gardens - Sarasota

Sorry for the gap in posts; I've been crazy busy with art fairs, a workshop, and lots of commissions that need to be finished by the holidays (not that I'm complaining!).

Before all this Chris and I decided to take a relaxing mini-vacation down in Longboat Key. I mean, it's silly; we live in Florida and we never go to the beach. We chose Longboat Key because it's supposed to have beautiful beaches, it's right next to cute St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota for restaurants and shopping, and it's only an hour and a half from Tampa.

Chris had two brilliant ideas for the trip down.  One was to stop at the outlets at Ellenton;  I'm not a big shopper, but it was fun way to snap up a few things we needed including a bag full of excellent dark chocolate.  We always need chocolate!

The second was to visit the beautiful Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota.  So many people have raved about these botanical gardens which surround an old Florida estate that we had to go, plus they were having a brass concert.  Chris plays trumpet as well as being an avid gardener, so this was right up his alley.  I had a great time sketching and the concert goers seemed to really be enjoying the music, the day and the beautiful, expansive gardens.
