"Sweet Memories–Tampa"

"Sweet Memories–Tampa", 8x10, oil

This painting was a commission for a family that was moving back to Atlanta.  They were looking forward to being closer to family, but were sorry to leave their beautiful cottage in South Tampa.  So they commissioned a home portrait as a souvenir.

My clients were extremely pleased with the commission.  So pleased, in fact, that they plan to have the neighborhood commission a home portrait as a wedding gift for another neighborhood couple.  Isn't that sweet?

"Under the Oaks–Hyde Park"

"Under the Oaks–Hyde Park", 8x8, oil

It was the red cushions that caught my eye on this house.  That and the feeling of being in deep shade under tall oaks.

And don't those red cushions just make that porch so inviting? Notice how, when I painted them, it was only that one corner of the right one that got a stroke of the bright cadmium red paint.  But that's all it took. The white paint right next to it and the darkness of the porch surrounding it makes it really stand out. I liked it so much I'm putting it on my business cards.

Happy, Happy New Year everyone!
