Chris and I took a fabulous three day tour of the Able Tasman National Park in New Zealand. It included hiking and kayaking through the spectacular scenery of the New Zealand south island. Everywhere you turned it was an amazing view. At night we stayed at rustic lodges like the one above, accessible only by boat.
The area has really high tides so we had to get up very early to wade through the estuary, before it was impassible. That water was cold! I was very appreciative of my neoprene booties that made it bearable.
You can't tell from this photo, but these are two person kayaks, which steer with a rudder controlled by the person in the back. With Chris in the back, and me in the front yelling, "No!! Go LEFT!!!", we learned why they refer to them as "divorce boats".
